ATLANTA — Parking and transportation is in the midst of a monumental transformation driven by technology.

“There is more data available, and more technology aids and apps for parkers and passengers than ever before,” said Mitch Skyer, president of Passio Technologies. “Understanding what is available and navigating through the multitude of choices only scratches the surface of the challenges facing commuters, employees, students, faculty, staff, visitors, patients and others who use transit and parking often.”

How administrators who operate parking and transit systems can tackle these challenges head on is the subject of a presentation from Skyer during the upcoming International Parking Institute (IPI) 2017 Conference in New Orleans. The presentation — titled “The Bad News is Time Flies; The Good News is You are the Pilot” — is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on Monday, May 22. Change out of your jammies, grab your coffee, and join us for this session that promises to be both interesting and interactive.

In his talk, Skyer will educate about how parking and transit technology can transform the customer experience from adequate to amazing; identify parking and transit technology tools available today and potential future applications; and develop strategies to use technology and data to determine what resources are needed.

“Why is the bus I need always late, but every other bus comes in two minutes? Should I be terrified of driverless cars?” Skyer said. “The answers to these questions and more will be realized by a technology revolution that will provide numerous benefits and impact our entire society.

“Congestion, work/life balance challenges, pollution, global warming and the need to improve health impacts every city and country in the world. Introducing technology to parking and transportation, and encouraging innovation from non-traditional sources can help us meet these challenges head on,” Skyer added.

Passio will be displaying right-sized transit solutions in Booth 813 during the show. For more information, visit passiotech.com.
